Summary: This three-day training series provides a comprehensive overview and refresher of Washington State's Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) including the new rule amendments effective January 1, 2024. MTCA directs the investigation and cleanup of contaminated sites in Washington. MTCA applies to contaminated soil, groundwater, air, and surface water in freshwater and marine environments. The series includes a one-day introduction to MTCA followed by a two-day technical course that focuses on implementing MTCA at contaminated sites. The instructors include MTCA experts from Washington State Department of Ecology and environmental consulting firms.

Intended Audience: This training is intended for environmental consultants, agency staff, and others seeking an improved understanding of MTCA and its application to contaminated sites in Washington State. The one-day MTCA introduction is intended for anyone needing a general understanding of MTCA including technical staff, supervisors, and potentially liable persons (PLPs). The two-day technical training is recommended for those implementing MTCA at cleanup sites.
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for the introductory course on Feb. 6, 2024. The introductory course, similar MTCA training, or working knowledge of MTCA is recommended for everyone attending the technical training on Feb. 7 - 8, 2024.
Education Level: Introductory to advanced (and a good refresher for those already familiar with the rule). General principles and more advanced topics are presented to ensure all levels benefit from attending.
Course Materials: 2024 updated course proceedings reflecting the recent rule amendments including presentation slides and resources.
Credit: 22.5 PDHs or 2.25 CEUs for completing 22.5 hours of instruction in three days.
Registration for MTCA Series (Feb. 6 - 8, 2024): $495, $395 per person for small groups of 2 - 9 people, and $350 per person for large groups of 10 or more on the same registration. Register online or by calling us at (800) 385-0783. Each participant may attend the courses on their own computer.
