Summary: This one-day training provides an overview and refresher of Washington State's Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) including the new rule amendments effective January 1, 2024. MTCA directs the investigation and cleanup of contaminated sites in Washington. MTCA applies to contaminated soil, groundwater, air, and surface water in freshwater and marine environments. The instructors include MTCA experts from Washington State Department of Ecology and environmental consulting firms.

Intended Audience: This training is intended for environmental consultants, agency staff, and others seeking an improved understanding of MTCA including technical staff, supervisors, and potentially liable persons (PLPs).


Prerequisites: None. This course is a prerequisite for the MTCA Implementation course.


Education Level: Introductory to intermediate (and a good refresher for those already familiar with the rule). General principles and more advanced topics are presented to ensure all levels benefit from attending.


Course Materials: 2024 updated course proceedings reflecting the new rule amendments including presentation slides and resources.


Credit: 7.5 PDHs or 0.75 CEUs for completing 7.5 hours of instruction in one day.
