Intended Audience: This training is intended for environmental consultants, agency staff, and others seeking an improved understanding of MTCA and its application to contaminated sites in Washington State.
Learning Objectives and Methods: Course participants will gain a fundamental understanding of Washington State's Model Toxics Control Act and how to apply MTCA to contaminated sites. Key concepts will be emphasized through a combination of lectures, interactive exercises, and quizzes. Those seeking course credit must fully participate in the course and will be required to complete exercises and quizzes to ensure they have gained an adequate understanding of the topics covered.
Prerequisites: The Intro to MTCA course on Jan. 26, 2027, similar MTCA training, or working knowledge of MTCA is recommended for everyone attending this technical training.
Education Level: Intermediate to advanced (and a good refresher for those already familiar with the rule). General principles and more advanced topics are presented to ensure all levels benefit from attending.
Course Materials: 2027 updated course proceedings reflecting the recent rule amendments including presentation slides and resources.
Credit: 15 PDHs or 1.5 CEUs for completing 15 hours of instruction in three days.
Registration for Part 2 - MTCA Implementation Only (Jan. 27 - 28, 2027): $395, $295 per person for small groups of 2 to 9 people, and $250 per person for large groups of 10 or more on the same registration.
