Overview:
This course provides an overview of the Six Scenarios Approach to understanding and predicting metal attenuation in soil and groundwater. The Six Scenarios Approach was developed by U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River National Laboratory in 2011 to provide a quick and easy framework for improving the assessment and remediation of in
organic contaminated sites. The six scenarios approach is based on the interpretation of site-specific geochemistry and geochemical gradients, in the context of inorganic contaminant idiosyncrasies (e.g., Cr(VI) instability under low redox conditions).
Course Topics:
Principles of Metal Behavior in Soil and Groundwater
Overview of the Scenarios Approach
Source Configurations
Designating Plume Segments
Scenario Indicator Parameters:
Oxidation-Reduction Potential
Cation Exchange Capacity
